Horticulture Recruitment Specialists

Select People is Australia’s specialist horticulture recruitment agency. Horticulture is the wider industry we work in, and this page covers its plant side: the people who grow, care for and maintain gardens and green spaces. (For hardscape and construction roles, see our landscape recruitment page.)

We understand the qualifications, the plant knowledge and the practical skills that separate a good horticulturist from someone who just knows their way around a mower. With more than 7,000 placements since 2003 and around 50,000 candidates on our database, we can usually find people other agencies can’t.

What we screen for

A horticulture role is more than a job title. We check qualifications and plant knowledge, experience with irrigation, pest and disease control and plant nutrition where the role needs it, the licences and machinery tickets that matter, and the reliability and client manner that maintenance work depends on.

Where we recruit

We actively recruit in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Sydney and Melbourne, and fill horticulture roles Australia-wide.

Every permanent placement comes with a replacement guarantee.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between a horticulturist and a gardener?

A horticulturist usually holds a formal qualification (typically a Certificate III or higher in Horticulture) and brings deeper plant science knowledge. A gardener’s role is often more focused on maintenance tasks. We’ll help you work out which you actually need.

Is my role horticulture or landscaping?

As a rule of thumb, horticulture is the plant side (planting, garden care, grounds maintenance) and landscaping is the hardscape and construction side. Many roles cross over, and we recruit for both, so we’ll help you pitch the role correctly.

Can you find a team leader who can also manage clients?

Yes. Team leaders who can run a crew and look after client relationships are among the roles we fill most often.

Do you offer a replacement guarantee?

Yes, on every permanent placement.
